The holiday season is fast approaching, and our schedule is filling up fast. Our Casa Guadalajara catering group provides the finest in Mexican cuisine catering at your location or at our restaurant at 4105 Taylor St. in Old Town, San Diego. Revered by many as the best Mexican Restaurant in San Diego, we take the pressure off of you by taking care of all of the personal details that make your event unique and memorable.
All of our events are custom designed to provide a unique experience for your group. Since 1995 dozens of companies and organizations have enjoyed our full service catering for their end of year parties. In lieu of the traditional holiday “office party”, many companies host a pre-Thanksgiving dinner for their employees and/or customers. Since you’ll probably be eating Turkey on Thanksgiving day, we’ll put together for you a special menu that will make your event one which everyone will remember for years to come.
For your holiday party our Courtyard and Garden Rooms provide you with a private, intimate atmosphere for you to celebrate ’till your hearts are content. Our Director of Catering and Special Events, Catherine Breedlove, will create an event to remember for you. Catherine is extremely creative and goes above and beyond to be sure all of your guests are given the special treatment you want them to experience.
If you’d prefer, we’ll happily bring the party to you. Our catering department can deliver your special event right to your doorstep. When it comes to Happy Hour, tequila, margarita’s and fun, the San Diego Mexican Restaurant known to have it all is Casa Guadalajara in Old Town San Diego. Serving over 50 different types of tequila, the bartenders at Casa Guadalajara can help you choose the particular tequila that best suits your particular taste buds.
According to http://www.tequila.net there are nearly 1000 different brands of tequila to choose from, and our staff has narrowed it down to what we believe are 50 of the finest available. While we’re not quite able to give you a detailed history and details on all the choices available, we can break it down to some basic elements to help you decide where to start the next time you visit us for dinner or Happy Hour, which runs from 4-7 pm daily in our cantina.
Tequila.net provides this excellent summary: “the main two types of Tequila are first split into two categories, 100% Blue Agave, and Tequila Mixto (Mixed). Mixto Tequila contains a minimum of 51% Blue Agave, and the remaining 49% from other sugars (typically cane sugars). The additional products allowed in Mixto Tequilas are caramel color, oak extract flavoring, glycerin, and sugar based syrup. Mixto Tequila can now be bottled outside of the Tequila territory, including other countries, which started January 6, 2006.”
Just like going into a Starbucks and ordering coffee can be a bit intimidating with all of the choices and terminology most of us don’t understand, it can be the same when ordering Tequila. In our next blog post we’ll dive deeper into the five different types of tequila and you’ll then be able to narrow it down to a couple you can sample next time you visit us.
